Is reddit ads worth it?

Reddit is one of the biggest social news aggregation platform with lot highly engaged audience with numerous sub communities to effectively target your wanted audience.  Reddit is probably one of the best platform to raise your product awareness, as long as you effectively configure your campaigns.  It is also highly effective in gathering data about your target audience in relative to your products or contents because you can get true honest feedback from your target audience to help you get objective view on your products without your own personal bias on it.

Reddit lets you define audience based on locations, interests, subreddits, and so on.  It takes about 2 hours for ads to be approved on average and you need to spend a minimum of $5 dollars a day.  You can expect to pay under $1 per click on average.  Once you made your audience selections, it can be used again for future use.  Compared to google or facebook ads, it’s better at getting impressions, but not good at getting clicks.  Impression occurs when user only sees the advertisement while click requires engagement on the user’s end.  Most of the time, user will browse through the list of posts on reddit and only make minimal clicks.  This is why most people found reddit ads to be an effective tool for raising product awareness compared to it being a traffic generator.

The cost is lower compared to other marketing services (note that cost will differ greatly depending on what category your product falls under), but this is because it doesn’t create the same type of results.  When it comes to generating clicks, google, bing, or facebook are more effective.  When it comes to raising awareness, reddit might be a very effective tool as you long as you do your research and market to all the target subcommunities.
