Do push up bars help with wrist pain?

Push up bars may look like a pointless tool at first, but they provide lot of benefits like bigger range of motion and less tension for your wrist.  Your wrist will be stronger and safer because you get better ability to adjust your placement to include your thumbs being wrapped or being faced forward.  It also encourages your wrist to stay straight during pushups instead of a certain angle that isn’t beneficial.  It’s like doing pushups with your fist.  It also gives you bigger range of motion due to extra height you gain. Which works out your chest more than regular pushups.  Additional benefits include providing a stable form without slipping throughout your workout, giving you ability to workout your grip strength, and ability to train different muscle groups.

But this doesn’t mean that you should ignore regular pushups.  One of the cons of using handles for pushups is more pressure on your shoulder due to different form.  This means more discomfort and with wider range making it more difficult than regular pushups, it may not be as effective for developing muscular endurance.  Using a hybrid of both with and without the pushup handles is better to give your wrists a break every now and then and to provide variations to your workouts.  While the equipment is called pushup bars, you can use it to perform exercises like dips or L-sits with it.  This will hit other muscle areas to address muscle imbalances you may have.  Overall, it’s a useful equipment to have if you have weak wrists or if you are constantly stressing your wrists.
